At Night Dental Singapore, We treat all dental emergencies promptly. We know that dental problems can be painful and cause anxiety, so rest assured you’ll be in good hands. Just drop us a call for an appointment and we’ll see you as soon as possible.
How we treat your chipped or fractured tooth will depend on the degree of its injury. Whatever the damage might be, you should see a dentist to get the appropriate treatment. Don’t worry, as it’s usually easy to restore a damaged tooth. If it hurts, try to avoid biting in that area or eating hot or cold foods.
If a blow or fall knocks one or more of your teeth out, you should recover it and remove any dirt or debris by gently rinsing it. To protect the fibres on the root surface, avoid handling the root. If you can keep it in its socket until you can get emergency dental treatment, your tooth will have a better chance of survival. If this isn’t possible, put it in a cup of milk. If the tooth is simply pushed out of place, don’t force it into its socket. You should just apply light finger pressure to reposition it to its normal alignment. Use a moist tissue or gauze to hold the tooth in its place and come in to Night Dental immediately.
If your mouth or gums are swollen, it’s usually due to an infection. This might be in your teeth or gum tissue, or there may be an abscess that has to be drained. An infected swelling would usually feel warm to the touch as well as being tender. You should come in immediately so you can be accurately diagnosed. After checking your teeth and gums thoroughly, an appropriate treatment and any necessary medications will be prescribed.
If a filling is loose, avoid disturbing it and come in to have it repaired or replaced. If it falls out, remove it from your mouth to avoid swallowing or choking on it. You won’t need to save it as it will be replaced with a new one.
If a crown becomes loose, we advise you have it re-cemented as soon as possible. If it falls out, keep it safe, as we may be able to cement it back into place. Sometimes, a root canal treatment is recommended if it was not performed before the crown was constructed. Come in to see us immediately to prevent this from happening
Wisdom teeth usually come in between ages 17 and 25 and they don’t always cause problems. If you do experience minor pain and swelling, rinsing periodically with a teaspoonful of salt dissolved in warm water can help. However, if the pain is more severe, come in to see us as the tooth may have to be removed.
